3. When deciding which brand to buy, consider the level and quality of ongoing support provided.
4. The Jupiter Melody is the only water ionizer manufactured that always gives alkaline drinking water even when cleaning itself. (i.e., no waiting period). Other brands either stop making alkaline drinking water when in cleaning mode or do not provide regular automatic cleaning.
5. �Copy� models from China/Taiwan are beginning to appear in North America. Be careful of products not made for the North American and European markets or without track records in those markets. These models can disappear as quickly as they have appeared, leaving customers without any backup service, filters or parts.
6. Most alkaline water machines use only genuine Platinum-Titanium in their electrode plates. Models from China or Taiwan use Platino-Iridium (one seventh the cost of Platinum Titanium). The Japanese government has banned the use of iridium in drinking water applications.
7. While most brands have reasonable alkaline water filter replacement prices, there are some manufacturers taking high profits from replacement filters.
8. Some manufacturers employ larger electrode plates and claim they are superior. They hope to fool the consumer into thinking "bigger is better". However, the larger electrodes draw 3-4 times more power; they shorten electrode life with no additional benefit to water quality.
9. The BionTech differs from other ionizers. It is a batch system that uses 4 liters of water to produce 2 liters(quarts) of alkaline water about every 15 minutes. It does not provide alkaline water �on demand�; water must be added manually. However, since it does not require water pressure, it can be used anywhere there is power and water. It is also capable of making super-acid ionized water (pH 2.5)
